Social Inclusion Programme

"I was in trouble a lot at school and got kicked out and that... the youth workers have helped me so that I can stay in education and I have more confidence now."

This programme aims to support 13-21 year olds who are 'hard to reach'; whilst always maintaining a specific focus based on the individual needs of the young people involved.  Our work looks to promote social cohesion, develop the young people's social and practical skills and enable them to aspire beyond their current situation.

A young man enjoys sailing, learning a new skill and gaining confidence  A youth worker helps a young woman to find a job  'Without Romsey Mill we wouldn't have been able to do half the things we have done'

The project currently works with young people from the North and East of Cambridge through a combination of detached outreach work, friendship groups, single gender groups, project groups (e.g. DJing, MCing, Motorbikes, Football, Performing Arts), and one-to-one support.

"The dance group is the only thing that makes me feel normal.  I feel like a superstar!"

As young people build relationships with workers so they create the activities and programme in which they wish to be involved.

"At Romsey Mill you don't feel you have to act a certain way.  You feel you can just be yourself."

We work within The Netherhall School to deliver a vocational programme for Key Stage 4 pupils.

A young man teaches a younger boy how to DJ  Writing and performing lyrics helps to creatively and constructively work through emotions, whilst developing literacy  Making technical adjustments

We work closely with a number of partner agencies across the city of Cambridge.
