This Spring sees the beginning of a process to change the old £1 coin that has been part of our currency for over 30 years, and replace it with a new 12-sided coin.
The new coin is introduced at the end of March, with the old round £1 coins finally going out of circulation on 15th October 2017.
And Romsey Mill is encouraging everyone to donate an old £1and give it a longer life!
Neil Perry, Romsey Mill's Chief Executive said: "If you donate your old £1 coin to us, we promise to give it a longer life by helping to give local young lives a brighter future."
"We know the difference that a single bit of encouragement can make to a young life. And as an organisation, we value every single word of encouragement; every single offer of practical assistance and willingness to give time and skills to volunteer with us; and every single financial contribution towards the cost of our work – however large or small."
Neil said: "You can pop a pound in any of our collection pots within the community. You may even decide that you want organise a collection at your place of work, school, church, sports club or pub - so that others can 'pop a pound in the pot' and help support local young lives."
"Whatever you decide, we’d love to hear from you"
