Making Summertime Special for everyone

< Back to listing

Make summertime special for everyone!

Romsey Mill works with many young people, children and families who will not be having a holiday this summer or days trips out.

We want to give some of the most vulnerable local children and young people enjoyable experiences this summer.

And help to create positive memories that will last a lifetime.

Because we know that these experiences can serve as a catalyst to transformation in young lives.

James Bennett, Romsey Mill’s Programme Manager said: “We know how important it is for everyone to be able to have enjoyable things to look forward to. We want to provide positive experiences and happy memories for those children and families who would otherwise not be doing anything special this Summer. And we hope that these experiences will help to bring about real change in young lives.”

We need funding for our wide range of activities to make summertime special for everyone!

Would you be able to help us by making a donation? You can donate here

Any money that you donate will help to fund a programme of over 30 different summer activities put together by Romsey Mill’s team for some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged local children, young people and families.

The programme includes:

  • day trips for young families (to the zoo, seaside, local adventure parks)
  • activities for young people (skate parks, quad biking,)
  • residential trips to outdoor centres for groups of young people

We want to offer people who can’t afford a break something to look forward to and help:

  • Create enjoyable experiences and memories
  • Reduce social isolation
  • Improve mental health and wellbeing
  • ……Make summertime special for everyone....and help transform young lives.

Research by the National Citizen Service revealed more than half of teenagers feel isolated during their time off from school, with a quarter saying the holidays are their loneliest time of the entire year, rising to 29% among girls.

Other studies show that parents in low income families find it harder to make ends meet during the summer holidays compared with term-time, with a staggering 93% of low income parents skipping at least one meal a day to make sure their children are fed.

Could you make a contribution towards the cost of our summer activities? A donation of any size WILL help us make this summertime special for hundreds of local young people and families.

Thank you!
