You get to try new things

< Back to listing

Julyah Clarke, aged 15, has been coming to Romsey Mill for about 4 years. He has taken part in our Step-Up course and has come along to a music group after school each week.

Romsey Mill has helped Julyah with lots of things including thinking about what he wants to do as a career, as well as giving him an opportunity to make music and create a bit of a fan base. His most memorable moments involving his passion for music have been performing at The Junction in Cambridge and making a few good songs in the studio. Through the Step-Up course, Julyah has enjoyed activities at Grafham Water, cooking and a Sports Leadership course, where he has loved leading and teaching younger children.

Julyah says, “Romsey Mill can help young people stay off the streets, can help in picking a career and good support for different people in all situations. It gives you something to do that is not just about lots of writing and the usual qualifications. As a young person, you get to try new things.”
