Twelve Days of Christmas 2015 - a story for the seventh day

< Back to listing

‘Five to Thrive’ is a concept that presents five building blocks for a healthy brain, forged on the bonds between a parent/carer and baby. These building blocks are respond, cuddle, relax, play and talk - but it isn’t a rigid programme – it is a concept which can be adapted to individual or group settings using an array of resources which are developed in-house.

In 2015, ‘Five to Thrive’ was introduced by our Young Parents Programme as a way of talking about the emotional and developmental needs of a baby with young mums and dads. Young parents are encouraged as they see how things they are already doing have a positive impact on their child’s development. A 17 year old mum-to-be said of ‘Five to Thrive’ “I found it helpful as I didn’t realise a baby’s brain could be stimulated so easily at such a young age.”
