Twelve Days of Christmas - a story for the tenth day...

< Back to listing

Over December, we need your support to raise £12,000 to help young people facing challenges at school, at home or in the community. Together we can give them a fresh start in 2015 - learning new skills, growing in confidence and fulfilling their potential.  Here is a story about how Romsey Mill provides hope, transformation and second chances for young people:

In Year 6, Sara* was worried about starting secondary school.  She took part in Romsey Mill’s Transitions programme to help her prepare for this change.  At first, she was very quiet and lacked confidence to take part in games and activities, or contribute to group discussions.  As term progressed, and with encouragement from the group leader and her peers, she came out of her shell, and took part in some challenging outward bound activities that would have been completely overwhelming just a few months earlier.  She is now at secondary school, and though she still feels shy sometimes, she is settling in well.
