Twelve Days of Christmas - a story for the sixth day...

< Back to listing

Over December, we need your support to raise £12,000 to help young people facing challenges at school, at home or in the community. Together we can give them a fresh start in 2015 - learning new skills, growing in confidence and fulfilling their potential.  Here is a story about how Romsey Mill provides hope, transformation and second chances for young people:

At age 15, Sean* had a difficult relationship with his parents and was often sleeping rough.  He came to Cambourne Youth Club and met one of Romsey Mill’s Youth Development Workers, Jon Sanders, who heard about his situation.  Sean was offered accommodation by the Minister of Cambourne Church, which brought him stability and enabled him to complete his GSCEs.  Sean then moved to a hostel, and though struggling at times with drug misuse, he got a job.  Meeting Jon every week or so over the past 5 years has given him direction, and he is now in a stable relationship and studying for a degree in Events & Hospitality at university.
