Twelve Days of Christmas - a story for the eighth day...

< Back to listing

Over December, we need your support to raise £12,000 to help young people facing challenges at school, at home or in the community. Together we can give them a fresh start in 2015 - learning new skills, growing in confidence and fulfilling their potential.  Here is a story about how Romsey Mill provides hope, transformation and second chances for young people:

Karla* had her daughter a year after leaving school.  She and her partner Craig work hard at their relationship and being good parents, but Karla’s criminal record as well as being a young mum has been a barrier to moving forward with her education.  Romsey Mill’s Progressions Worker, Bekki Clark, was able to act as an advocate for Karla and helped secure a place for her at college, and now she is studying for an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.  Karla speaks highly of Romsey Mill and says “I’d like to be a social worker or youth worker eventually because of the support and experiences I have had.  I want to do the same for others.”
