Vacancy - Youth Development Worker (Yaxley)

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WORKER, YAXLEY

St Peter's Church, Yaxley

(in partnership with Yaxley Parish Council, Cambridgeshire County Council and Romsey Mill)

The post holder will be employed and line managed by the Vicar of St Peter’s Church, Yaxley with supervision and support from Romsey Mill

Salary - £21,695 (pro rata) (£11.28 per hour) to £24,432 (pro rata) (£12.70)

Hours of work – 18.75 a week – Flexible working evenings, weekends and school holidays.

We are accepting applications for this role now, and will arrange to interview suitable candidates as soon as possible.

We are advertising for a Youth Development Worker for the village of Yaxley which sits on the borders of The Fens, Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

We are looking for an individual who is able to work with young people aged 11-18 years old across Yaxley.  You will need to be comfortable working in both the church and the skate park (and everything in between!)  We are looking to employ a youth worker who will get to know the community and be able to signpost young people to some of the many youth activities in Yaxley and also be willing to run and coordinate activities.  We want to be able to reach the hard-to-reach young people and utilise the village resources to their full capacity to serve our young people.

The role will be part time (18.75 hours a week) including some work in evenings or at weekends.  The post holder must be willing to be flexible in their working.

The post holder will require a DBS check and must be willing to undertake safeguarding training and other training relevant to the role.

This is a new post in partnership with the Parish and County Council and Romsey Mill.

Yaxley is a village of around 10,000 people bordering the Fens on one side and the City of Peterborough on the other side.  It is a diverse village with much going on.  We have an Infant School, Church of England Junior School and a County Primary School.  The majority of our young people go to Hampton Gardens School.  We have a skate park and recreation ground with trim trails and outdoor exercise equipment.

St Peter’s, Yaxley is a Church of England Church serving Yaxley.  We are an open, contemporary, evangelical church, devoted to loving God and our community. Our aim is to reach out in love and faith into the communities in which we live, work and play. Our desire is to see God’s love transform lives, so that all in the Yaxley area would come to believe, trust and hope in Jesus Christ.

The post holder will be employed and line managed by the Vicar of St Peter’s Church, Yaxley with supervision and support from Romsey Mill. Funding and further support will be given by Yaxley Parish Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.

Organisations involved:

  • Yaxley Parish Council, 48 Main Street, Yaxley, PE7 3LU
