  1. Our work

Training

We love to empower and train passionate people to provide good quality youth work. In 2019, we launched our Level 2 Award training in Youth Work Practice, in response to requests from some of Romsey Mill's young leaders. In our first year, we successfully trained 40 students, and have since run several Level 2 and Level 3 courses.

We currently offer training for the Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles. It is a 12 week course, running from Monday 24th February 2025 to Monday 16th June 2025, excluding school and Bank Holidays.

6. E-safety - Understanding the risks posed to young people online and best practice to keep young people safe.
7. Adolescence - Understanding the cognitive and physical changes that take place during adolescence and how to respond to these effectively as a youth worker.
8. Stereotyping - Understanding anti-discriminatory practice and its impact on youth work and identifying the impact our own prejudice and values could have when engaging with young people.
9. Managing Challenging Behaviour - Understanding the root causes of challenging behaviour and how to respond appropriately in a youth work setting.
10. Establishing Youth Work in a New Area - How to establish youth work in a new area including the value, challenges and best-practice guidelines in relation to partnership working.
11. Legislation and Boundaries - An overview of the latest legislation related to youth work and how to ensure that youth workers look after their own mental, emotional, and physical health.
12. Health and Safety - How to write risk assessments for young people and youth work activities and how to effectively implement them to mitigate young people from harm.

Our course is delivered by experienced development managers, who specialise in engaging with at-risk and disadvantaged youth through multiple platforms. These include alternative education provision, individual, group and community work
